Is the Rearward arm different from the Forward arm?
Yes. The X5/X6 front suspension uses two lower arms. The Forward arm (31126771893) is the "Thrust Arm" which controls braking force. This Rearward arm (31126773949) is the "Wishbone" which primarily controls the lateral position of the wheel.
How do I know if this specific control arm is bad?
Common signs include "inner-edge" tire wear, a clunking noise when driving over small bumps or cracks in the road, and a steering wheel that feels "vague" or wanders while driving straight.
Is the Left arm different from the Right arm?
Yes. On the X5/X6, the control arms are side-specific due to the mounting angles on the subframe. 31126773949 is for the Left (Driver) side, and 31126773950 is for the Right (Passenger) side.
