Do I need a special tool to install these rear brake pads?
Yes. The modern G-Chassis BMWs are equipped with an Electromechanical Parking Brake (EPB). Before you can physically push the rear brake caliper pistons back into their housings to fit the thick new pads, you must use a professional OBD2 diagnostic scanner to electronically retract the parking brake motors into "Service Mode." Attempting to force the piston back mechanically without retracting the motor will instantly destroy the expensive EPB actuator.
Will these fit my vehicle if I have the M-Sport Braking Package?
Absolutely not. This specific pad set (34208844393) is engineered strictly for the Standard Braking System (featuring standard, unpainted grey calipers). If your vehicle was highly optioned with the M-Sport Brakes (Option Code S2NHA, easily identifiable by large Blue, Red, or High-Gloss Black fixed calipers), these standard pads will not fit your upgraded hardware. You must always run your VIN prior to ordering to confirm compatibility with your specific caliper geometry.
Does this kit include the electronic wear sensor?
Yes. Unlike many bare aftermarket pads, this OEM-spec kit arrives fully complete for your rear axle service. It includes the four heavy-duty brake pads along with the single rear electronic wear sensor required to successfully reset your iDrive service intervals.
Do I need to perform a "bedding-in" procedure after installation?
Absolutely. New brake pads require a specific, rigorous bedding-in (burnishing) procedure to transfer a microscopic layer of pad friction material evenly onto the iron rotor. If you skip this critical step, the new pads may squeal, wear out prematurely, and fail to provide adequate high-speed stopping power.
