Why should I replace these wishbones as a set?
Suspension arms are subjected to identical road conditions and wear. Replacing both ensures that your camber and caster remain identical on both sides, which is critical for the heavy-set suspension of the X5 and X6. It also saves you from needing a second alignment later when the other side inevitably fails.
How do these differ from the "Thrust Arms"?
The front suspension of these models uses two lower arms. The Forward arm (Thrust Arm) is curved and controls braking vibration. This Rearward arm (Wishbone) is straighter and controls the lateral position of the wheel; it is the primary arm responsible for maintaining your tire's contact patch during turns.
Do I need an alignment after installation?
Yes. A professional 4-wheel alignment is mandatory. Replacing these wishbones alters the camber and toe settings. Failing to align the vehicle will lead to rapid tire wear, particularly on the inner edges.
Can I reuse my old mounting hardware?
While you can, it is highly recommended to inspect the mounting bolts for any corrosion. Many technicians prefer using new OEM-grade hardware to ensure the correct torque specs are maintained under the high stress of the suspension.
