What are the signs that my G20 engine mount has failed?
The most common symptoms include a noticeable vibration at idle, a "thud" or clunking noise when shifting from Park to Reverse/Drive, and increased cabin resonance during hard acceleration.
Is this mount side-specific?
Yes. This is the Left (Driver Side) mount. While the Right (Passenger Side) mount looks similar, they have different part numbers and internal damping rates. It is often recommended to replace them in pairs for balanced engine stability.
Does this fit the 330i (4-cylinder) model?
No. This specific part number (22116860471) is designed for the 6-cylinder B58 engine found in the M340i. The 330i (B46/B48 engine) utilizes a different mounting bracket and rubber compound.
Why do these mounts fail earlier on tuned cars?
Added torque from aftermarket tunes (like Bootmod3 or MHD) puts additional stress on the hydraulic fluid inside the mount. If you drive your M340i spiritedly, these mounts are considered a "wear item" that may need replacement every 40,000–60,000 miles.
