Are these solid rubber mounts or fluid-filled?
These are premium, fluid-filled hydro-mounts, exactly mirroring the original Mercedes-Benz factory design. Solid rubber aftermarket mounts are completely insufficient for the 4-cylinder M274 engine and would transfer terrible, rattling vibrations directly into the passenger cabin.
Why do I need to replace both mounts if only one is leaking?
Because both mounts support the exact same engine and have endured the same intense heat cycles and mileage. If one mount has collapsed and leaked its fluid (often visible as thick, black/brown sludge running down the subframe), the other has been forced to take on double the workload and is statistically right at the end of its lifespan. Replacing them as a matched left-and-right pair is the only way to ensure the engine sits perfectly level and saves you from paying massive labor fees twice.
Does this set fit my V6 AMG model?
No. This specific engine mount set is engineered exclusively for the 4-cylinder variants (E180, E200, GLC 250, GLC 300). The heavier V6 and V8 AMG models require completely different, heavily reinforced engine mounts.
Should I replace the transmission mount at the same time?
It is highly recommended. The engine mounts and the rear transmission mount work together as a 3-point tripod to hold the drivetrain stable. When the front engine mounts collapse, the rear transmission mount is often stretched or crushed under the awkward weight transfer. Replacing all three guarantees the best possible NVH (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness) reduction.
