Will these fit my M340i, M440i, or M240i?
No! This is a critical engineering distinction. These specific engine mounts are engineered exclusively for the 2.0L 4-Cylinder (B46/B48) engines. If your BMW is a 6-cylinder "M-Performance" model equipped with the 3.0L B58 engine, these will absolutely not fit your engine brackets.
Are the left and right mounts identical?
No. Because of the asymmetrical packaging of the turbocharger, steering rack, and exhaust components, these mounts are highly side-specific. This convenient 2-piece bundle includes both the dedicated Left Side (22117581617) and the dedicated Right Side (22117581618) so you have exactly what you need to complete the job correctly.
Why should I replace both sides at the same time?
Replacing engine mounts in pairs is highly recommended. Because both mounts support the exact same engine weight and counteract the same rotational torque, they degrade at the identical rate. If your left mount has collapsed and leaked its fluid, your right mount has absorbed all the extra stress and is undoubtedly bottoming out as well.
How do I know if my mounts are bad?
The two most common visual and physical symptoms of failed G-Chassis engine mounts are severe vibrations transferring into the cabin while sitting at a stoplight (which mysteriously vanish when you accelerate), and visible trails of dark, dried hydraulic fluid leaking down the subframe directly beneath the rubber boots.
