Why does a diesel engine even need a throttle body?
EGR Blending: It partially closes to create intake vacuum, pulling exhaust gas into the engine to lower emissions.
DPF Regeneration: It restricts air to intentionally heat up the exhaust so the Diesel Particulate Filter can burn off trapped soot.
Anti-Shudder: It slams 100% shut when you turn the key off, instantly suffocating the engine so it stops smoothly without shaking the cabin.
