Frequently Asked Questions
Are these "front" or "rear" engine mounts?
Because the Porsche 911 is rear-engined, these are the main engine mounts located at the rear of the vehicle. While they are sometimes colloquially called "front" mounts because they sit forward of the rear bumper, they are the primary left and right mounts that support the engine block itself.
Why is this sold as a set of two?
It is strictly recommended by Porsche specialists to replace these mounts in pairs. Since both mounts support the immense weight of the engine and endure identical heat cycles and stress, if one has collapsed, the other is essentially at the end of its lifespan. Replacing both ensures the engine sits perfectly level.
Why choose Lemförder over a cheaper aftermarket brand?
The 997's handling and NVH (Noise, Vibration, Harshness) characteristics are incredibly sensitive. Budget aftermarket mounts often use inferior, solid rubber or polyurethane that transmits harsh, rattling vibrations straight into your steering wheel and cabin. Lemförder provides the genuine factory fluid-filled design, delivering a perfect blend of structural rigidity and luxury grand-touring comfort.
Will these fit a 997 equipped with the Sport Chrono PADM system?
No. This set includes standard hydraulic engine mounts. If your 997.2 is equipped with the Porsche Active Drivetrain Mounts (PADM) option—which features an electrical connector on top of the mount—these will not be compatible and will trigger a dashboard error code.
