Dampers wear so gradually that most owners never notice until they are replaced. The car floats over crests, takes a moment longer to settle after a bump, and the tyres lose contact patch under braking — all of which develops slowly enough to feel normal. It is also a safety item: a worn damper measurably lengthens stopping distance and accelerates tyre wear.
We supply genuine OEM dampers across every marque we serve, including adaptive and electronically controlled units. Send us your VIN and we will confirm before you order — front and rear, and left and right on some platforms, are distinct part numbers.
Always replace in axle pairs. A new damper working alongside a worn one on the same axle gives inconsistent damping side to side, and on adaptive systems it gives the control module contradictory inputs — producing a ride complaint that no alignment will fix.
Adaptive dampers are not interchangeable with passive ones. PASM, AIRMATIC, Adaptive Drive, MagneRide and similar systems use electronically controlled valving with wiring to each corner. Fitting a passive damper where an adaptive one belongs will set a fault and disable the system, even where it physically bolts up.
Replace mounts and bump stops with the damper. Top mounts, bearings and bump stops perish alongside the damper and are cheap while the strut is out. Reusing a perished top mount is a common cause of a knock that persists after new dampers.
Calendar age matters as much as mileage. Damper seals and bushings degrade with heat and time. In Gulf conditions a low-mileage car ten years old needs the same scrutiny as a higher-mileage one.
An alignment is required afterwards wherever the strut carries suspension geometry.

How do I know my dampers are worn? The car floats over crests and takes an extra movement to settle, the nose dives more under braking, and tyres show cupped or scalloped wear. Visible fluid on the damper body is conclusive but late.
Can I replace just one? Not advisedly. Damping must match across an axle, and on adaptive systems a mismatched pair produces fault codes and ride complaints.
Do I need new top mounts? Almost always worth doing. They perish alongside the damper and are inexpensive while the strut is already out — a perished mount is a common cause of a knock that survives new dampers.
My car has air suspension — is this the right category? Air struts are a linked system with the compressor and valve block. See air suspension compressors →
