This Front A/C Evaporator Core is a direct-fit replacement for the primary dashboard HVAC unit on the following Mercedes-Benz platforms:

Is this for the rear A/C system?
No. This specific evaporator core (A1648300158) is designed strictly for the primary HVAC housing under the front dashboard. If your vehicle is equipped with the 3-Zone rear climate control package and your leak is originating from the rear center console/headliner, you will need the rear evaporator core instead (A1648300258).
Does this include the thermal expansion valve (TXV)?
No. This is the bare aluminum evaporator core. The front A/C expansion valve and its corresponding O-rings are sold separately. Because of the extreme labor required to access this area behind the dash, it is universally recommended by Mercedes technicians to replace the expansion valve and all related O-rings at the exact same time the new evaporator is installed.
Should I replace the heater core while doing this job?
Yes, highly recommended. The front heater core sits directly next to the A/C evaporator inside the exact same dashboard HVAC housing. Since the vast majority of the cost of this job is the labor to remove the dashboard, replacing the aging heater core while the box is already fully disassembled is excellent preventative maintenance.
