Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if my leak is the valve block or an individual air spring?
This can be tricky, as a stuck open valve block mimics a blown air strut. The best method is to spray a soapy water solution directly onto the brass fittings of the valve block while the car is running. If you see bubbles forming, the block is leaking. If the block is completely dry, the leak is likely at the specific air strut that is sagging.
Should I replace the air compressor at the same time?
Not necessarily. However, if your old valve block had a severe leak, your air compressor was likely running overtime to compensate. It is highly recommended to inspect the health of your compressor and always replace the air suspension compressor relay when installing a new valve block to prevent future electrical burnouts.
Do the color-coded air lines matter?
Absolutely. The ports on the valve block are color-coded to match the specific plastic air lines routing to individual wheels (e.g., Left Front, Right Rear, Accumulator). Crossing these lines during installation will cause the suspension computer to become completely confused, resulting in erratic, dangerous leveling behavior.
Does this require computer calibration after installation?
While the block itself is mechanically plug-and-play, opening the pneumatic lines depressurizes the system. You will highly likely need an advanced diagnostic tool like VCDS (VAG-COM) to clear the old suspension fault codes, command the system to properly refill the accumulator, and perform a basic level adaptation to ensure the vehicle sits perfectly flat.
