The 718 Boxster and Cayman are Porsche's mid-engine sports cars — the 982 generation from 2016, which replaced the naturally aspirated flat-six with the turbocharged four-cylinder before the six returned in GTS 4.0 and GT4 variants. Our catalogue also covers the preceding 981 Boxster and Cayman.
Every part is matched to chassis code, engine code and production date. The engine question matters most here: a 718 with the 2.0 or 2.5 turbo four and a GTS 4.0 with the naturally aspirated flat-six take entirely different service parts despite the shared body. Send us your VIN and we will confirm before you order.

981 Boxster / Cayman (2012–2016) — The last naturally aspirated generation before the 718 rename, with flat-six engines and PDK or manual. Now a maturing platform with steady service demand.
982 718 (2016–) — Turbocharged 2.0 and 2.5 flat-fours across most of the range, with PDK or manual. Mid-engine layout, PASM adaptive damping optional, PCCB optional.
718 GTS 4.0, GT4 and Spyder — Naturally aspirated 4.0-litre flat-six variants with their own engine, cooling, brake and suspension specification. Very little powertrain hardware carries across from the turbo four cars.
Mid-engine cooling. Radiators sit at the front with the engine behind the cabin, which means long coolant runs the length of the car and a cooling pack that is exposed. The side and front radiators take stone and debris damage as a matter of routine and block with dust between the fins, producing high temperatures in traffic that clear on the move — inspect and clean the stack before condemning a thermostat or pump. Because a leak anywhere in the run is labour-intensive to reach, replacing hoses, clamps and O-rings proactively while the area is already open is materially cheaper than doing it twice. In GCC ambient temperatures the whole package works considerably harder than the European design case assumed. Coolant parts → · Radiators → · Intercoolers →
PDK transmission. PDK carries a defined fluid and filter service interval — it is not lifetime-fill, and unlike a torque-converter automatic it will not quietly absorb a skipped service. Jerky low-speed take-up, shudder pulling away from rest, and hesitation between first and second are the early warnings, and a fluid and filter service at that stage costs a fraction of clutch pack or mechatronic work. PDK fluid is specification-specific and not interchangeable with ATF. Fluid that has sat for years in a stored car is not fresh fluid regardless of the odometer. Brakes. Specification varies by variant — base, S, GTS and GT4 all differ in disc diameter and pad compound, and PCCB was optional. PCCB requires ceramic-specific compounds: conventional pads destroy the friction layer within a single service interval and the discs cannot be resurfaced. On a car that stands, surface corrosion clears with use but pitting under a pad parked against a wet disc does not — inspect rather than assume. The wear sensor is single-use. Suspension. MacPherson struts front and rear with PASM adaptive damping optional. Replace dampers in axle pairs — mixing a new damper with a worn one gives the control module inconsistent inputs and produces a ride complaint no alignment will fix. Because these cars cover low annual mileage and stand for long periods, bushings and dampers age on a calendar basis rather than a mileage basis. A four-wheel alignment is required after any suspension work. Axle & steering → · Shock absorbers → · Wheel hubs & bearings →
Boxster roof mechanism. On convertible cars the fabric roof uses a hydraulic system with cylinders, position sensors and microswitches. A roof that refuses to cycle is far more often a failed microswitch, a position sensor, a leaking cylinder, or low battery voltage than a failed pump — diagnose before replacing anything expensive. Roof seals and fabric suffer under Gulf sun and UV regardless of mileage, and blocked drain channels cause water ingress misdiagnosed as seal failure.
Filters and service consumables. Service intervals are governed by time as well as distance. A car covering 3,000 km a year still needs its annual oil and filter service — oil degrades by oxidation and moisture contamination, and short journeys from cold are the harshest duty cycle a turbocharged engine faces. Filters follow the engine family: the turbo fours and the 4.0 flat-six differ entirely. Order the complete service kit, since sealing washers and housing O-rings are single-use. Air filters → · Oil filters → · Service kits →
Electrical and sensors. Battery condition deserves checking first on a car that spends time standing — a degraded battery produces a multi-module fault cascade, including roof faults on Boxsters, that clears once voltage is restored. Use a conditioner if the car is stored. Electrical parts → · Oxygen sensors →
We supply genuine and OEM trim, body and lighting components for the 718 Boxster and Cayman. Body and aerodynamic components are variant-specific — GT4 and Spyder items do not cross-reference to standard cars — and roof seals on Boxsters are worth treating as maintenance items under Gulf sun. Send your VIN with any body or trim enquiry. Browse body parts → or contact our team.
Do 718 turbo-four and GTS 4.0 parts interchange? Engine, cooling and much of the service hardware, no. Body and many chassis items, largely yes. Confirm the engine before ordering anything powertrain-related.
It runs hot in traffic but is fine on the move. That points to airflow — a debris-blocked radiator stack — rather than coolant flow. Inspect and clean before replacing a thermostat or pump.
My Boxster roof will not cycle. Check battery voltage first, then microswitches and position sensors, then hydraulic cylinders for leaks. A failed pump is far less common than any of those.
The car is stored most of the year. Service annually regardless of distance, use a battery conditioner, and check cooling hoses, bushings and brake discs on a calendar basis.
