Mercedes SLC Parts | Genuine OEM — R172, SLC 43 AMG

OEM Mercedes-Benz SLC Parts

The SLC is the final chapter of the SLK line — the R172 renamed and facelifted in 2016, produced until 2020 when the model was discontinued. Our catalogue covers the R172 SLC across its full run, including the SLC 43 AMG.

Every part is matched to chassis code, engine code and production date. The useful fact here is the lineage: the SLC is the same R172 chassis as the later SLK, so a great deal of mechanical hardware cross-references directly — see SLK parts → for the earlier cars. Front lighting, bumper components and some interior trim are where the 2016 facelift diverges. Send us your VIN and we will confirm before you order.

Mercedes-Benz SLC Maintenance Parts

SLC service demand is dominated by consumables and by low-mileage effects — fluid and brake degradation from standing rather than from distance covered.

Filters and service consumables. Service intervals on a low-mileage car are governed by time rather than distance. An SLC covering 3,000 km a year still needs its annual oil and filter service — oil degrades by oxidation and moisture contamination, and short journeys from cold are the harshest duty cycle there is. Order the complete service kit: the oil filter housing O-ring and sump plug crush washer are single-use. Air filters → · Oil filters → · Service kits →

Brakes. Standard, AMG Line and SLC 43 cars take different disc diameters and pad compounds. The wear sensor is single-use. On a car that stands for long periods, surface corrosion clears with use, but pitting under a pad parked against a wet disc does not — inspect rather than assume the discs are serviceable. Cooling. M274 and M276 engines seep from thermostat housings and plastic pipework long before any temperature warning appears — a sweet smell and a slowly falling expansion tank are the first evidence. In Gulf conditions cooling plastics should be treated as consumable rather than lifetime parts. Coolant parts → · Radiators →

About Mercedes-Benz SLC Parts

Parts for the SLC divide by generation before anything else. Identifying the chassis code — R172 SLC — is the first step in ordering correctly, and facelift revisions within a generation matter as much as the generation change itself.

R172 SLC (2016–2020) — The renamed and facelifted SLK, with the M274 four-cylinder, the M276 V6 in the SLC 43 AMG, and the OM651 diesel in some markets. The 9G-Tronic replaced the earlier gearbox on most variants. MAGIC SKY CONTROL glass roof remained an option. Because the rename was a facelift rather than a new platform, mechanical parts supply benefits from the whole R172 production run rather than just the SLC years — which matters on a discontinued low-volume model.

The Vario-roof. The defining service system on this car. It uses a hydraulic pump, cylinders, position sensors and microswitches, and it is the most common source of non-engine faults. A roof that refuses to cycle is far more often a failed microswitch, a position sensor, a leaking hydraulic cylinder, or low battery voltage than a failed pump — diagnose before replacing anything expensive. Hydraulic cylinder seals fail with age rather than use, and Gulf heat and UV are hard on roof seals and hydraulics regardless of mileage. Fluid staining in the boot lining is usually the first visible sign of a leaking cylinder. Cars with MAGIC SKY CONTROL have additional electrical complexity in the glass panel itself.

Suspension and steering. Front control arm bushings are the defining wear item, presenting as steering shimmy under braking, then a knock over expansion joints, then inner-edge tyre wear misdiagnosed as alignment. Mercedes supplies most arms complete with bushing and ball joint pressed in, which is the correct repair. Because these cars cover low annual mileage, bushings and dampers age on a calendar basis rather than a mileage basis. Control arms → · Shocks & springs → · Wheel hubs & bearings →

Transmission. Most SLC variants use the 9G-Tronic, which degrades ahead of its long-life billing in Gulf heat. Harsh 1–2 shifts, delayed engagement from Park and lock-up shudder around 40–70 km/h are the early signals. Fluid that has sat for years in a stored car is not fresh fluid regardless of the odometer. Electrical and sensors. Battery condition matters more on this car than on most. A stored roadster with a degraded battery will throw a multi-module fault cascade and refuse to operate the roof, and the faults clear entirely once voltage is restored. Confirm battery and charging health before condemning a module, and use a conditioner if the car is stored. Electrical parts → · Oxygen sensors →

Genuine Mercedes-Benz SLC Accessories

We supply genuine and OEM trim, body and lighting components for the SLC. Roof seals, latches and weather strips are worth treating as maintenance items on a car exposed to Gulf sun. Front lighting and bumper components differ from the pre-2016 SLK — send your VIN with any body or trim enquiry. Browse body parts → or contact our team.

FAQ

Is the SLC the same as the SLK? Yes, in the ways that matter for parts. The R172 SLK became the SLC in 2016 via a facelift rather than a new platform, so mechanical hardware cross-references directly. Front lighting, bumpers and some trim differ.

My roof will not cycle — what should I check first? Battery voltage, then microswitches and position sensors, then the hydraulic cylinders for leaks. A failed pump is far less common than any of those.

There is fluid staining in my boot. Typically a leaking roof hydraulic cylinder. Address it before the fluid loss stops the roof cycling altogether.

My car covers very few kilometres — can I skip services? No. Service annually regardless of distance, use a battery conditioner if stored, and check bushings, dampers and cooling hoses on a calendar basis.

How quickly will my order ship? In-stock orders dispatch from our UAE or USA warehouse with full tracking.

Frequently Asked Questions

    • Genuine Parts: These are the exact components installed at the factory, arriving in the original vehicle manufacturer’s branded packaging (e.g., Porsche or BMW).
    • OEM Parts: These are produced by the same manufacturers that supply the car brands (e.g., Bosch, Brembo, Lemförder) but are sold in the supplier’s own packaging, often at a more competitive price.
    • Aftermarket Parts: These are third-party components designed to meet or exceed original specifications.
