Audi R8 Parts | Genuine OEM — Type 42, Type 4S, V10

OEM Audi R8 Parts

The R8 is Audi's mid-engine supercar and the only car in the range with a naturally aspirated V10 mounted behind the cabin. It shares its aluminium and carbon Space Frame, engine and gearbox with the Lamborghini Huracán — which is the single most useful fact for sourcing parts. Our catalogue covers the Type 42 (2006–2015) and Type 4S (2015 onward), including V8, V10 and V10 Plus / Performance variants and the Spyder.

Every part is matched to chassis code, engine code and production date. Send us your VIN and we will confirm before you order — on a low-volume car with continuous running changes, this is not a formality.

Generations of the R8

Type 42 (2006–2015) — The original, launched with the 4.2 FSI V8 and later the 5.2 FSI V10, offered with a six-speed manual or the R tronic automated single-clutch manual. The 2013 facelift replaced R tronic with the S tronic dual-clutch. The 4.2 V8's FSI injectors are a well-known failure point producing a cold-start misfire that owners routinely misdiagnose as ignition coils.

Type 4S (2015–) — V10 only, sharing its 5.2 engine and seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch with the Lamborghini Huracán. A 2019 facelift revised the front end and aerodynamics. Carbon ceramic brakes standard on most variants.

About R8 Parts

The Huracán relationship. Engine, gearbox and a substantial share of driveline and cooling hardware are common between the Type 4S R8 and the Huracán. Body, interior and many electronics are Audi-specific. This dual sourcing route often improves availability on hard-to-find items — tell us the VIN and we will work whichever channel gets the part fastest.

Rear driveline and CV axles. A known failure point on the R8 and Huracán alike, presenting as a clunk from the rear under load or when taking up drive. It is frequently misattributed to the gearbox or a mount. Diagnose the CV axles and their boots before condemning anything more expensive — boot failure that lets grease out and dust in is what kills the joint. Injectors on the 4.2 V8. Cold-start misfire on the Type 42 V8 is characteristically an FSI injector fault rather than an ignition coil failure, and replacing coils first is a common and wasted expense. Read our guide on the 4.2 FSI cold-start misfire →

Brakes and carbon ceramic. CCM discs are standard on most Type 4S variants and were optional on the Type 42. The rule is absolute: conventional pad compounds destroy the ceramic friction layer within a single service interval, and ceramic discs cannot be resurfaced — replacement is the only remedy, at many times the cost of the pads responsible. V10 Plus and Performance variants carry their own specification again. Confirm before ordering. Audi brake pads & rotors → · Brake rotors →

Cooling. A mid-mounted V10 in a tightly packaged bay makes cooling both critical and labour-intensive to reach — the argument for replacing hoses, clamps, O-rings and the expansion tank while the area is already open rather than returning for each. Radiators sit low and forward and take stone and debris damage as a matter of routine. In GCC ambient temperatures the cooling package works considerably harder than the European design case assumed, and rubber and plastic components harden on a calendar basis regardless of mileage. Transmission. The seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch on Type 4S cars takes its own fluid specification and will not tolerate a skipped service — jerky low-speed take-up, shudder pulling away from rest and hesitation between first and second are the early warnings, and a fluid and filter service then costs a fraction of clutch or mechatronic work. Fluid that has sat for years in a stored car is not fresh fluid regardless of the odometer. Type 42 cars with R tronic use an automated single-clutch system with its own hydraulics, clutch and actuator service procedure — entirely different, and not to be cross-referenced. Suspension. Double wishbones front and rear with adaptive magnetic damping on many cars. Replace dampers in axle pairs — mixing a new damper with a worn one gives the control module inconsistent inputs and produces a ride complaint no alignment will fix. Because these cars cover low annual mileage and stand for long periods, bushings and dampers age on a calendar basis rather than a mileage basis. The nose lift system fitted to many cars has its own pump and hydraulics. Axle & steering → · Shock absorbers →

Filters, service and electrical. Service intervals here are governed by time, not distance — a car covering 2,000 km a year still needs its annual oil and filter service, because oil degrades by oxidation and moisture contamination and short journeys from cold are the harshest duty cycle a V10 faces. Battery condition is the first thing to check on any electrical complaint: a stored R8 with a degraded battery produces a multi-module fault cascade that clears once voltage is restored. Use a conditioner if the car is stored. Service kits → · Oil filters → · Electrical parts →

Genuine R8 Accessories

We supply genuine and OEM trim, body and lighting components for the R8 and R8 Spyder. Body panels and aerodynamic components are variant-specific, and Type 42 and Type 4S share very little externally — send your VIN with any body or trim enquiry. Browse body parts → or contact our team.

FAQ

Are R8 parts the same as Lamborghini Huracán parts? Engine, gearbox and much of the driveline are shared on the Type 4S. Body, interior and many electronics are Audi-specific. We can often source from either channel, which helps on hard-to-find items.

I have a clunk from the rear under load. Commonly a CV axle rather than the gearbox or a mount. Check the axle boots — a split boot that lets grease out and dust in is what kills the joint.

My 4.2 V8 misfires on cold start. Characteristically an FSI injector fault rather than ignition coils. Replacing coils first is a frequent and wasted expense.

Does my car have carbon ceramic brakes? Standard on most Type 4S variants, optional on Type 42. It matters absolutely — conventional pads destroy ceramic discs.

The car is stored most of the year. Service annually regardless of distance, use a battery conditioner, and check cooling hoses, bushings and dampers on a calendar basis. Standing is harder on these cars than moderate use.

Frequently Asked Questions

    • Genuine Parts: These are the exact components installed at the factory, arriving in the original vehicle manufacturer’s branded packaging (e.g., Porsche or BMW).
    • OEM Parts: These are produced by the same manufacturers that supply the car brands (e.g., Bosch, Brembo, Lemförder) but are sold in the supplier’s own packaging, often at a more competitive price.
    • Aftermarket Parts: These are third-party components designed to meet or exceed original specifications.
