Does this compressor come pre-filled with oil?
Most OEM replacement compressors are shipped with a baseline amount of shipping oil to protect the internals during transit, but you must not assume it is the correct final amount. Your certified A/C technician must completely drain the shipping fluid, measure it, and refill the compressor with the exact amount and viscosity of PAG 46 oil required by the BMW service manual.
Should I replace anything else while doing this job?
Yes. Whenever an A/C compressor is replaced, it is an industry-standard requirement (and necessary for warranty validity) to also replace the Receiver Drier / Accumulator. The drier contains a desiccant bag that absorbs moisture; once the system is opened to the atmosphere during the repair, the old drier is instantly ruined. You should also replace the rubber O-rings on the suction and discharge lines, as well as the single-use aluminum mounting screws.
Does this fit the twin-turbo N54 models (like the 335i or 535i)?
No. This specific compressor (64526956715) is specifically engineered for the naturally aspirated N52/N53 inline-6 engines (like the 328i or 530i). The turbocharged N54/N55 variants frequently utilize a distinctly different compressor configuration to clear the turbo piping and intercooler routing. Always verify your exact engine code.
