Are the left and right front air struts identical?
No. Because the lower portion of the high-strength steel shock body features an asymmetrical lower mounting fork uniquely curved to steer around front drive axles, sway bar links, and steering knuckles, these struts are strictly side-specific. A2903207700 handles the Front Left side exclusively, while A2903207800 handles the Front Right.
Do I need to reuse my old air springs or shock absorbers?
No. This set consists of fully pre-assembled, cohesive strut units. The pneumatic multi-chamber air bladder and the electronic adaptive hydraulic shock absorber are already seamlessly joined together. No complex or hazardous spring compressors are required during installation.
Does this fit AMG GT 4-Door models with standard steel coil springs?
No. These replacement struts are engineered specifically for vehicles optioned with the factory Multi-Chamber Air Suspension package (Code 489). Vehicles built on fixed steel springs feature completely different mounting perches and lack the chassis computers, ride-height sensors, and pneumatic plumbing lines required to operate these struts.
Why is it highly recommended to replace both front struts together?
Internal multi-chamber air bladders and hydraulic valves experience identical road impacts and mileage. If one side has structurally failed, the opposite side has endured identical wear and is typically close to failing. Replacing them as a complete axle pair ensures even cornering balance, balanced steering tracking, and eliminates duplicate assembly labor or alignment costs down the line.
