Is this for the Left (Driver) or Right (Passenger) side?
This specific PCV valve is side-specific. Part number 94610723077 is engineered exclusively for the Left Side of the engine. On Left-Hand Drive (LHD) vehicles (such as in the US, Canada, and mainland Europe), this corresponds to the Driver's side.
Why is my engine making a loud whistling noise?
When the internal rubber diaphragm of the PCV valve tears, engine vacuum pulls unmetered air through the tiny rupture. This creates a highly distinct, loud whistling or squealing sound that is frequently mistaken for a bad serpentine belt or failing pulley. If the noise disappears when you briefly loosen the oil filler cap (which releases the vacuum), your PCV valve is guaranteed to be the culprit!
Will this fix my random oil leaks?
It very well might! When a PCV valve fails, pressure builds up inside the engine block with nowhere to go. This trapped pressure will eventually force its way out by pushing oil past your valve cover gaskets, rear main seal, and timing cover. Replacing a torn PCV valve is the critical first step in curing unexplained oil leaks.
Should I replace the right side at the same time?
While you technically only need to replace the side that has failed, it is highly recommended to replace both the left and right PCV valves simultaneously. Since both valves have endured the exact same mileage, heat cycles, and oil vapors, if your left side has torn, your right side (94610722977) is usually on the verge of rupturing as well.
