On multi-link and double-wishbone suspensions, the upper control arms locate the top of the hub and set camber. They carry less vertical load than the lower arms but work through a wider arc, and on several European platforms the upper forward arms are the first components in the corner to wear — producing a knock over expansion joints and vague on-centre steering well before anything shows on an alignment printout.
We supply genuine OEM upper control arms complete with bushings and ball joints. Send us your VIN and we will confirm before you order — front and rear, left and right are frequently distinct part numbers.
Multi-link corners carry several arms. Audi's B8, B9, C7 and C8 platforms run four control arms per front corner, and the upper forward pair typically wears first. Because the arms share load, replacing one in a set of four usually returns the car to the workshop within months — replace the affected side as a set.
Replace the arm, not the bushing. European manufacturers generally supply the arm complete with bushing and ball joint pressed in. That is the intended and durable repair.
Upper arms set camber. A four-wheel alignment is mandatory afterwards, and skipping it produces exactly the inner-edge tyre wear the repair was meant to cure.
Calendar age matters. Bushings degrade with heat and time as well as mileage. Low-mileage cars in Gulf conditions need calendar-based inspection.

How do I know which arm is worn? A workshop can load each joint and check for play. On multi-link Audi front ends the upper forward arms are statistically the most likely, but confirmation beats assumption on a corner with four arms.
Should I replace all four arms? On multi-link corners, replacing the affected side as a set is usually the economical choice, since the labour is shared and a single new arm alongside three worn ones fails early.
Do I need an alignment afterwards? Yes. Upper arms set camber directly.
