Do I need to gap these spark plugs before installing them?
No. Genuine Mercedes-Benz spark plugs are pre-gapped at the factory to the precise specifications of your engine. While you can verify the gap with a wire gauge, you should never try to pry or bend the delicate fine-wire center electrode, as it can easily snap.
How many do I need to order?
This part number is sold individually. You will need to order the correct quantity for your engine block:
V6 Engines (e.g., C300, C350): Order 6
V8 Engines (e.g., CL550, CLS63 AMG): Order 8

Should I use anti-seize compound on the threads?
No. Mercedes-Benz strictly advises against using anti-seize paste on these modern spark plugs. The metal threads feature a specialized factory coating designed to prevent seizing in the aluminum cylinder head. Adding wet anti-seize changes the friction coefficient, which often leads to over-torquing and cracking the ceramic insulator or stripping the cylinder head threads.
When should I replace my spark plugs?
For standard engines (M272 V6 / M273 V8), the replacement interval is typically every 60,000 to 100,000 miles. However, high-performance AMG engines (like the M156 6.2L V8) put much more stress on the ignition system and often require spark plug replacement every 40,000 to 60,000 miles.
