BMW 1 Series Parts | Genuine OEM — E8x, F20, F40, F70
OEM BMW 1 Series Parts
The BMW 1 Series is the definitive premium compact — the car that brought BMW's driving dynamics to the hatchback segment, and for three generations the only rear-wheel-drive hatchback on sale anywhere. Our catalogue covers every generation: the original E81, E82, E87 and E88, the F20 and F21, the front-wheel-drive F40, and the current F70 — including 116i, 118d, 120, 125i and the performance M135i and M140i.
Every part is sourced through the official BMW OEM supply chain and matched to chassis code, engine code and production date. That matters more on the 1 Series than on most BMWs, because the car changed architecture completely partway through its life. Parts for an E87 and an F40 are not interchangeable in any meaningful sense despite the shared model name, and a listing matched only to "1 Series" is a fitment error waiting to happen. Send us your VIN and we will confirm before you order.

Generations of the BMW 1 Series
E81 / E82 / E87 / E88 (2004–2013) — The first generation, and the one enthusiasts still seek out: longitudinal engine, rear-wheel drive, near 50/50 weight distribution. Available as three-door (E81), five-door (E87), coupe (E82) and convertible (E88). The N52 naturally aspirated straight-six and the N54 twin-turbo in the 135i are the engines that define this generation for parts demand. Common service work centres on the electric water pump and thermostat, VANOS solenoids, front control arm bushings, and on N54 cars the high-pressure fuel pump and injectors.
F20 / F21 (2011–2019) — The second generation kept rear-wheel drive and gained the N20 four-cylinder and N55, later B48 and B58, turbo engines. The M135i and M140i are the standout models. This is the highest-volume 1 Series generation in the used market, and the one most represented in service parts demand. Timing chain concerns on early N20 cars, electric water pumps, charge pipe and boost hose failures, and rear subframe bushings are the recurring items.
F40 (2019–2023) — The architectural break. The F40 moved to the transverse front-wheel-drive UKL2 platform shared with the MINI and the 2 Series Active Tourer, with the M135i xDrive as the all-wheel-drive flagship. Engines are the B38 three-cylinder and B48 four-cylinder. Because the drivetrain layout changed entirely, almost nothing in suspension, transmission or driveline carries over from the F20 — verify the chassis code before ordering anything structural.
F70 (2024–) — The current car, continuing on the front-drive platform with 48-volt mild-hybrid assistance across the range. Service parts remain closely tied to model year, and revisions are frequent. VIN confirmation is the only reliable route on this generation.
About BMW 1 Series Parts
Brakes. M Sport and standard brake packages use different disc diameters and different pad compounds, and the M135i and M140i differ again. The pad wear sensor is a separate part number front and rear and is single-use — replace it with the pads rather than reusing it. Fitting a standard-compound pad to an M Sport car is the usual cause of the low-speed groan and early fade owners blame on the discs. BMW brake pads & rotors →
Suspension and steering. On the rear-drive E8x and F2x cars, front control arm and thrust arm bushings are the defining wear item. The symptom order is consistent: steering shimmy under braking, then a knock over expansion joints, then inner-edge tyre wear misdiagnosed as an alignment fault. BMW supplies most of these as a complete arm with the bushing pressed in, which is the correct repair. The F40 and F70 use a different front geometry entirely — do not order by model name alone. Cooling. The N52, N54, N55 and N20 engines all use an electric water pump with a defined replacement interval, and proactive replacement is materially cheaper than the overheating damage a failure causes. On the newer B48 and B58, the plastic coolant distributor housing seeps long before any temperature warning appears. In GCC ambient temperatures, moulded hoses and expansion tanks harden considerably faster than the European design case assumed. Coolant parts → · Radiators →
Filters and service consumables. BMW's condition-based service calculation assumes factory-specification consumables and the correct LL-01 or LL-04 oil. Filters follow the engine family rather than the model — an N20 and a B48 in the same F20 body take different oil filter elements. Order the complete service kit rather than individual lines, since the sump plug seal and filter housing O-ring are single-use and are the two items most often missing when a job stalls halfway. Transmission. Rear-drive 1 Series cars use the ZF 8HP or the earlier 6HP automatic, described as lifetime-fill but degrading well ahead of that assumption in Gulf heat. Harsh 1–2 shifts, delayed engagement from Park and lock-up shudder around 40–70 km/h are the early signals. Front-drive F40 and F70 cars use a different gearbox family with its own fluid specification — confirm which before ordering. Transmission parts → · Transmission mounts → · BMW engine mounts →
Electrical and sensors. Most 1 Series faults presented as module failures are sensor or connector faults — crankshaft and camshaft position sensors, oxygen sensors, wheel speed sensors, and corroded connectors at the tail lamp clusters. The ECU calibration is built around the OEM sensor's output curve, so an aftermarket unit reading a few percent off runs the engine in a permanently compensated state without ever setting a fault code. Genuine BMW 1 Series Accessories
Beyond service parts, we supply genuine and OEM accessories and trim for the 1 Series — interior trim components, exterior styling parts, and model-specific fittings. Trim part numbers are tied tightly to interior colour code and equipment level, so send your VIN with any trim enquiry rather than ordering from a model-year match. FAQ
Which BMW 1 Series generations do you supply parts for? All of them — E81, E82, E87 and E88 (2004–2013), F20 and F21 (2011–2019), F40 (2019–2023), and the current F70. Parts are mapped to chassis code and production date rather than model name alone.
Are F20 parts interchangeable with F40 parts? Largely no. The F40 moved from longitudinal rear-wheel drive to a transverse front-wheel-drive platform, so suspension, driveline and transmission components do not carry over. Some service consumables are shared where the engine family is the same. Always check the chassis code.
How do I know which engine my 1 Series has? The engine code appears on your VIN record and on the engine bay identification label. If you are unsure, send us the VIN — filters, cooling components and service kits all follow the engine family rather than the model year, so this is the single most useful detail you can give us.
Do you stock M135i and M140i specific parts? Yes. Brake, cooling and suspension components on the M Performance models differ from the standard cars and are listed separately where the part number differs.
How quickly will my order ship? In-stock orders dispatch from our UAE or USA warehouse depending on availability, with full tracking from dispatch to delivery.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
- Genuine Parts: These are the exact components installed at the factory, arriving in the original vehicle manufacturer’s branded packaging (e.g., Porsche or BMW).
- OEM Parts: These are produced by the same manufacturers that supply the car brands (e.g., Bosch, Brembo, Lemförder) but are sold in the supplier’s own packaging, often at a more competitive price.
- Aftermarket Parts: These are third-party components designed to meet or exceed original specifications.
