BMW Z4 Parts | Genuine OEM — E85, E89, G29, Z4 M
OEM BMW Z4 Parts
The BMW Z4 is the two-seat roadster line, and a car with a distinct ownership pattern: low annual mileage, long periods standing, and a roof mechanism that becomes a service item in its own right. Our catalogue covers the E85 and E86, the E89, and the current G29, including the Z4 M variants and the M40i.
Every part is sourced through the official BMW OEM supply chain and matched to chassis code, engine code and production date. Send us your VIN and we will confirm fitment before you order.

Generations of the BMW Z4
E85 / E86 (2002–2008) — Roadster and coupe, with M54 and N52 sixes and the S54 in the Z4 M. Fabric roof on the E85. Recurring items are cooling system plastics, front thrust arm bushings, the roof motor and its microswitches, and on electric-steering cars the steering column assembly. Cooling components on this generation are consumable rather than lifetime, particularly in Gulf heat.
E89 (2009–2016) — The folding hardtop generation, with N20, N52 and N55 engines. The retractable hardtop mechanism has its own hydraulic pump, cylinders, sensors and microswitches, and is the single most common source of non-engine faults on this car. Electric water pumps and front control arm bushings are the other recurring items; early N20 cars also have the timing chain concern.
G29 (2018–) — Back to a fabric roof, on a platform developed alongside the Toyota Supra. B48 four-cylinder and B58 six in the M40i. The plastic coolant distributor housing on B-series engines is the known failure point. Roof mechanism components differ entirely from the E89 hardtop.
About BMW Z4 Parts
Roof mechanism. Worth treating as its own system on this model. The E89 folding hardtop uses a hydraulic pump, cylinders, position sensors and microswitches; the E85 and G29 fabric roofs use a motor-driven mechanism with its own sensors and latches. A roof that refuses to cycle is far more often a failed microswitch, a position sensor, or low battery voltage than a failed motor or pump — diagnose before replacing anything expensive. Hydraulic lines and seals age on a calendar basis, and Gulf heat and UV are hard on roof seals and fabric regardless of mileage.
Brakes. M Sport and standard packages take different disc diameters and pad compounds, and the Z4 M and M40i differ again. The pad wear sensor is a separate part number front and rear and is single-use — replace it with the pads. On a car that stands for long periods, surface corrosion on the discs is normal and clears with use, but pitting under a pad that has been parked against a wet disc for months is not — inspect before assuming the discs are serviceable. Suspension and steering. Front control arm and thrust arm bushings are the defining wear item, with the familiar progression: steering shimmy under braking, then a knock over expansion joints, then inner-edge tyre wear misdiagnosed as an alignment fault. BMW supplies these as a complete arm with the bushing pressed in, which is the correct repair. Because these cars typically cover low annual mileage, bushings and dampers age on a calendar basis rather than a mileage basis — a 40,000 km Z4 that is fifteen years old needs the same attention as a higher-mileage car. Cooling. The N52, N55 and N20 engines use an electric water pump with a defined replacement interval, and proactive replacement is materially cheaper than the overheating damage a failure causes. E85 cooling plastics fail on a calendar basis and should be treated as consumable. On B48 and B58 engines the plastic coolant distributor housing seeps long before any temperature warning appears. In GCC ambient temperatures, hoses and expansion tanks harden well ahead of the European design case. Coolant parts → · Radiators →
Filters and service consumables. Service intervals on a low-mileage car are governed by time rather than distance. A Z4 covering 3,000 km a year still needs its annual oil and filter service — oil degrades by oxidation and moisture contamination, not only by use, and short journeys from cold are the harshest duty cycle there is. Filters follow the engine family rather than the model. Order the complete service kit: the sump plug seal and filter housing O-ring are single-use and are the items most often missing when a job stalls halfway. Transmission and mounts. The ZF 8HP automatic on G29 and later E89 cars, the earlier 6HP, the manual option and the DCT offered on some E89 models all take different fluid specifications. The 8HP is described as lifetime-fill but degrades well ahead of that in Gulf heat — and fluid that has sat for years in a stored car is not fresh fluid regardless of the odometer. Harsh 1–2 shifts, delayed engagement from Park and lock-up shudder around 40–70 km/h are the early signals. Transmission parts → · Transmission mounts → · BMW engine mounts →
Electrical and sensors. Most Z4 faults presented as module failures are sensor, earth or connector faults — crankshaft and camshaft position sensors, oxygen sensors, wheel speed sensors, roof position sensors and microswitches, and corroded tail lamp connectors. Battery condition matters more on this car than on most: a stored roadster with a degraded battery will throw a multi-module fault cascade and refuse to operate the roof, and the faults clear entirely once voltage is restored. Confirm battery and charging health before condemning a module, and use a conditioner if the car is stored. Electrical parts → · Oxygen sensors →
Genuine BMW Z4 Accessories
We supply genuine and OEM accessories and trim for the Z4 — interior trim, exterior styling, roof seals and model-specific fittings. Roof seals, latches and weather strips are worth treating as maintenance items on a car exposed to Gulf sun. Trim part numbers are tied tightly to interior colour code and equipment level, so send your VIN with any trim enquiry. Browse body parts → or contact our team.

FAQ
Which Z4 generations do you supply? E85 and E86, E89 and the current G29, including Z4 M and M40i variants. Parts are mapped to chassis code and production date rather than model name alone.
My roof will not cycle — what should I check first? Battery voltage, then the microswitches and position sensors. A failed motor or hydraulic pump is far less common than either, and replacing one before diagnosing the cheap causes is a frequent and expensive mistake.
Are E89 and G29 roof parts interchangeable? No. The E89 uses a folding hardtop with hydraulic actuation; the G29 uses a motor-driven fabric roof. The mechanisms share nothing.
My car covers very few kilometres — can I skip services? No. Oil degrades by oxidation and moisture contamination as well as by use, and standing plus short cold journeys is the harshest duty cycle. Service annually regardless of distance, and check bushings and dampers on a calendar basis.
How quickly will my order ship? In-stock orders dispatch from our UAE or USA warehouse depending on availability, with full tracking from dispatch to delivery.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
- Genuine Parts: These are the exact components installed at the factory, arriving in the original vehicle manufacturer’s branded packaging (e.g., Porsche or BMW).
- OEM Parts: These are produced by the same manufacturers that supply the car brands (e.g., Bosch, Brembo, Lemförder) but are sold in the supplier’s own packaging, often at a more competitive price.
- Aftermarket Parts: These are third-party components designed to meet or exceed original specifications.
