Guide Sep 17, 2026 7 min read By Marcus Elite The Europarts360 Chrome Extension: Install Guide and Feature Overview We built a Chrome extension that does two things European car owners actually need: it decodes fault codes for every marque we stock, and it checks whether the part you need is available on Europarts360.com without you having to open a new tab and search manually. It is free, it runs locally in your browser, and it takes about 90 seconds to install. Because it is not listed on the Chrome Web Store yet, installation requires Developer Mode. That sounds technical but it is four clicks. This guide walks through the full process. What the Extension Does Fault Code Lookup Type any OBD2 fault code into the extension popup and it returns the code definition, the most likely causes, and the affected system across all 12 marques Europarts360 stocks: BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Volkswagen, Porsche, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Bentley, Rolls-Royce, Maserati, Aston Martin, and Land Rover. Instead of searching a forum and reading 40 comments to find whether the information applies to your specific chassis and build date, you get a direct answer in the extension popup. Generic OBD2 P-codes as well as manufacturer-specific codes that only appear in BMW INPA, Mercedes XENTRY, or VCDS are all covered across the supported marques. Parts Availability Check Search a part name, part number, or component description in the extension and it queries the live Europarts360.com catalogue in real time. If the part is in stock you see the price and a direct link to the product page. If it is not in stock, you know immediately and can contact our team for sourcing rather than spending ten minutes clicking through the website. This is particularly useful while you are already mid-diagnosis in another tab. You can check availability without breaking your workflow or opening a new browser window. Step-by-Step Installation Step 1: Download the Extension Files Go to the Europarts360 GitHub repository: github.com/europarts360/europarts360 Click the green Code button and select Download ZIP. This downloads the extension files to your computer. You do not need a GitHub account to do this. Alternatively, if you use Git, clone the repository with git clone https://github.com/europarts360/europarts360.git Step 2: Extract the ZIP File Find the downloaded ZIP in your Downloads folder. Extract it: right-click and select Extract All on Windows, or double-click on Mac. Inside the extracted folder is a file called manifest.json. That is the file Chrome needs to recognise the extension. Note where this folder is located. Step 3: Open Chrome Extensions In Chrome, type chrome://extensions in the address bar and press Enter. Alternatively: click the three-dot menu at top right, then More Tools, then Extensions. Step 4: Enable Developer Mode In the top-right corner of the Extensions page, switch on the Developer mode toggle. The page refreshes and three buttons appear at the top left: Load unpacked, Pack extension, and Update. Step 5: Load the Extension Click Load unpacked. A file picker opens. Navigate to the folder you extracted in Step 2 - the folder that contains manifest.json - and select that folder (the folder itself, not a file inside it). Click Select Folder. The Europarts360 extension card appears in your extensions list and is now active. Step 6: Pin to Toolbar Click the puzzle piece icon in the top-right of Chrome to open the Extensions menu. Find Europarts360 in the list and click the pin icon next to it. The Europarts360 icon now appears permanently in your toolbar for one-click access from any tab. Using the Extension Fault Code Lookup Click the Europarts360 icon in your toolbar. Type your fault code into the search field - for example P0171, P0420, P0300, or a manufacturer-specific code like 2A93 for BMW or P10E1 for Mercedes-Benz. The extension returns the code definition, the system affected, and the most common causes for your marque. For further context on what specific codes mean and how to test before ordering parts, see our diagnosis guides: Oxygen Sensor Diagnosis Guide - P0130 to P0167 range covered in full with live data testing steps Audi 3.0T PCV and Lean Code Guide - P2187 and Bank 1 lean codes in context of the 3.0T oil system BMW E39 M5 Post-Sensor ECU Adaptation - How to confirm sensor codes have cleared correctly Compression and Leakdown Testing - For P0300-range misfire codes and what they indicate Parts Availability Check Switch to the parts search tab in the popup. Type a part description, OEM part number, or component name. The extension queries the live Europarts360.com catalogue and returns matching results with stock status, price, and a direct link to the product page. Searches that work well: BMW N55 oil filter, a specific OEM part number, Maserati Ghibli brake pads, W212 expansion tank, Lamborghini Huracán O2 sensor. OEM part numbers from your existing service history will return exact matches where we stock the component. If a part returns no results, contact our technical team with your VIN and the component you need. We source parts not listed on the website for all 12 marques in our catalogue. Supported Marques The fault code database and parts availability check cover all vehicles in the Europarts360 catalogue. For a full breakdown of common fault codes, symptoms, and fixes by marque, see our dedicated guides: BMW (all series including M Division) Mercedes-Benz (all classes including AMG) Audi (all models including RS and S variants) McLaren Porsche Ferrari Lamborghini (Gallardo, Huracán, Aventador, Urus) Bentley Rolls-Royce Maserati (Ghibli, Quattroporte, Levante, GranTurismo, Grecale) Aston Martin Land Rover (all models including Range Rover and Defender) Troubleshooting Extension not appearing after loading: Confirm you selected the folder that contains manifest.json, not a subfolder or the ZIP file itself. Open the selected folder and you should see manifest.json as a file within it. Chrome shows a developer mode warning on startup: This is a standard Chrome notification for all extensions installed outside the Chrome Web Store. It is expected behaviour and does not indicate a problem. Click X to dismiss it. Parts search returns no results for a known part: Try searching by OEM part number rather than a description. If the part is genuinely not in our catalogue, contact the team directly with your VIN and part details. Fault code not found in the database: Some very model-specific or market-specific codes may not be in the current version. Send us the code and chassis code and we will add it. Extension stops working after a Chrome update: Go to chrome://extensions, find the Europarts360 extension, and click the refresh icon on the card. If that does not resolve it, click Remove and reload using Load unpacked from your existing folder. Updating the Extension Because the extension is installed via Developer Mode rather than from the Chrome Web Store, it does not update automatically. To get the latest version: download the new ZIP from GitHub, extract it, go to chrome://extensions, and click the refresh icon on the Europarts360 extension card - or remove it and reload unpacked from the updated folder. We note significant database updates on the Europarts360 blog and social channels. Privacy Fault code lookups use a local database inside the extension and do not send your code queries to any external server. Parts availability searches query the Europarts360.com product catalogue directly - the same request as a manual search on the website. No personal data, vehicle identification information, or browsing history is collected or transmitted by the extension.
